iPhone 16 Plus Front and Rear Camera Service
Published by TurboFix, Hyderabad · Last updated · 1 sources
Quick answer
The iPhone 16 Plus has 2 separate rear cameras and a 12MP TrueDepth with autofocus front camera. A cracked lens cover can often be replaced on its own; blur on a clean lens, shaking or a black view usually means that camera module needs replacing.
The iPhone 16 Plus has 2 rear cameras (48MP Fusion and 12MP Ultra Wide) and a 12MP TrueDepth with autofocus front camera. Camera trouble can be anything from a cracked lens cover to a failed stabiliser, and the fix is very different for each.

What makes the iPhone 16 Plus different for this service?
- Rear cameras: 48MP Fusion and 12MP Ultra Wide.
- Front camera: 12MP TrueDepth with autofocus, part of the TrueDepth system that also handles Face ID.
- Camera Control: the side button that opens and adjusts the camera is a separate part. If it stops responding but the camera works, it's the button or its flex, not the camera module.
- Parts history: on iPhone 12 and later, including the iPhone 16 Plus, Settings > General > About lists the front and rear cameras. A non-genuine or unverified camera shows as "Unknown Part".
How does camera service differ across the iPhone 16 line-up (2024–25)?
The iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max added the Camera Control button; the 16e did not. On models that have it, Camera Control is a separate part from the cameras and can fail on its own.
What should I check on my iPhone 16 Plus before booking?
- The iPhone 16 Plus went on sale in September 2024. Depending on when yours was bought, and whether it has AppleCare+, it may still be under Apple coverage — check at checkcoverage.apple.com before booking any independent service.
What do we test on your iPhone 16 Plus before handing it back?
These checks are chosen for the iPhone 16 Plus's hardware, so features this model has are confirmed working after camera service:
- Face ID set-up and unlock
- Dynamic Island animations and Live Activities
- USB-C charging with a reference cable
- MagSafe alignment and wireless charging
- Camera Control button press and swipe
- Action button
- Parts and Service History entries for the cameras
What should I expect after the iPhone 16 Plus service?
We test photos and video on each camera, focus at near and far distances, the flash and Face ID before handing back. If a non-genuine camera was fitted, Settings > General > About will show "Unknown Part" for it.
How does the iPhone 16 Plus compare for camera service?
| Model | Cameras |
|---|---|
| iPhone 16 Plus | 48MP Fusion + 12MP Ultra Wide · front 12MP TrueDepth (AF) |
| iPhone 16 | 48MP Fusion + 12MP Ultra Wide · front 12MP TrueDepth (AF) |
| iPhone 16 Pro | 48MP Fusion + 48MP Ultra Wide + 12MP Telephoto (5x tetraprism) · front 12MP TrueDepth (AF) · LiDAR |
| iPhone 16 Pro Max | 48MP Fusion + 48MP Ultra Wide + 12MP Telephoto (5x tetraprism) · front 12MP TrueDepth (AF) · LiDAR |
| iPhone 16e | 48MP Fusion · front 12MP TrueDepth (AF) |
| iPhone 15 Plus | 48MP Main + 12MP Ultra Wide · front 12MP TrueDepth (AF) |
On these points the iPhone 16 Plus matches the iPhone 16. Parts can still differ in size or fit, so we always quote by exact model.

IPhone 16 Plus camera service: frequently asked questions
My iPhone 16 Plus photos are blurry. Is the camera broken?
Not always. First wipe the lens covers and remove the case — some cases block or reflect into the lenses. If one lens cover is cracked, photos from that camera look hazy or flared, and replacing the cover may be enough. If photos are blurry on a clean, uncracked lens, or focus hunts back and forth, the camera module itself is the likely cause.
Can you replace just the camera lens glass?
Often, yes. The lens cover is a separate piece of glass over each camera on the iPhone 16 Plus. If the camera behind it is undamaged, replacing the cover restores clear photos without changing the camera module. We check the camera behind the crack before quoting.
Why does my iPhone 16 Plus camera shake, buzz or click?
The iPhone 16 Plus's main camera uses optical image stabilisation, which physically moves parts to counter hand shake. If those parts are damaged, the image can jitter or you may hear buzzing. Apple has warned that strong vibrations — for example from mounting a phone on a high-powered motorcycle — can degrade the stabilisation and autofocus systems. A damaged stabiliser means replacing that camera module.
Will a replaced camera show as "Unknown Part"?
On the iPhone 16 Plus, yes, if the replacement isn't a genuine Apple part installed through Apple's process. It shows under Settings > General > About. We tell you the part grade before starting.
Which iPhone 16 Plus camera is faulty if only some photos look wrong?
On the iPhone 16 Plus, 0.5x uses the Ultra Wide camera and 1x and 2x use the main camera. Take a photo at each setting: if only one looks wrong, that module (or its lens cover) is the one to look at.
How much does iPhone 16 Plus camera service cost?
It depends on which camera, or just the lens cover, needs work and the part grade. You'll get the price and warranty period after inspection, before any work starts.
