iPhone 13 Pro Front and Rear Camera Service

Published by TurboFix, Hyderabad · Last updated · 1 sources

Apple iPhone 13 Pro

Quick answer

The iPhone 13 Pro has 3 separate rear cameras and a 12MP TrueDepth front camera. A cracked lens cover can often be replaced on its own; blur on a clean lens, shaking or a black view usually means that camera module needs replacing.

The iPhone 13 Pro has 3 rear cameras (12MP Wide, 12MP Ultra Wide (also used for macro) and 12MP Telephoto (3x)) and a 12MP TrueDepth front camera, plus a LiDAR Scanner. Camera trouble can be anything from a cracked lens cover to a failed stabiliser, and the fix is very different for each.

This page explains how to narrow down a camera fault on the iPhone 13 Pro, which problems a camera replacement solves, and where it won't help.

Advice that applies to every iPhone — data safety, what to check before booking and common causes — is in our iPhone camera service guide; this page focuses on what's specific to the iPhone 13 Pro.

What makes the iPhone 13 Pro different for this service?

  • Rear cameras: 12MP Wide, 12MP Ultra Wide (also used for macro) and 12MP Telephoto (3x).
  • Front camera: 12MP TrueDepth, part of the TrueDepth system that also handles Face ID.
  • LiDAR Scanner: helps with low-light focus, Portrait mode and AR. It's a separate module from the cameras and can fail on its own.
  • Parts history: on iPhone 12 and later, including the iPhone 13 Pro, Settings > General > About lists the front and rear cameras. A non-genuine or unverified camera shows as "Unknown Part".
  • Macro photos on the 13 Pro come from the Ultra Wide camera. If close-up shots won't focus but normal wide shots are fine, the Ultra Wide module is the first suspect.

How does camera service differ across the iPhone 13 series (2021)?

The iPhone 13 series added sensor-shift stabilisation to every model and Cinematic mode video. Sensor-shift moves the sensor itself, so a iPhone 13 Pro with jittery video or a faint buzz from the camera points at the stabiliser rather than the lens.

Pro models carry a telephoto camera and a LiDAR Scanner on top of the Wide and Ultra Wide, so there are more modules to test individually.

What should I check on my iPhone 13 Pro before booking?

  • The iPhone 13 Pro went on sale in September 2021, so unless it was bought much later or has extended cover, it's likely outside Apple's one-year limited warranty. You can confirm at checkcoverage.apple.com.

What do we test on your iPhone 13 Pro before handing it back?

These checks are chosen for the iPhone 13 Pro's hardware, so features this model has are confirmed working after camera service:

  • Face ID set-up and unlock
  • 120 Hz ProMotion scrolling
  • Lightning charging with a reference cable
  • MagSafe alignment and wireless charging
  • Ring/Silent switch
  • LiDAR-assisted Portrait mode
  • Parts and Service History entries for the cameras

What should I expect after the iPhone 13 Pro service?

We test photos and video on each camera, focus at near and far distances, the flash, LiDAR-assisted Portrait mode and Face ID before handing back. If a non-genuine camera was fitted, Settings > General > About will show "Unknown Part" for it.

IPhone 13 Pro camera service: frequently asked questions

My iPhone 13 Pro photos are blurry. Is the camera broken?

Not always. First wipe the lens covers and remove the case — some cases block or reflect into the lenses. If one lens cover is cracked, photos from that camera look hazy or flared, and replacing the cover may be enough. If photos are blurry on a clean, uncracked lens, or focus hunts back and forth, the camera module itself is the likely cause.

Can you replace just the camera lens glass?

Often, yes. The lens cover is a separate piece of glass over each camera on the iPhone 13 Pro. If the camera behind it is undamaged, replacing the cover restores clear photos without changing the camera module. We check the camera behind the crack before quoting.

Why does my iPhone 13 Pro camera shake, buzz or click?

The iPhone 13 Pro's main camera uses optical image stabilisation, which physically moves parts to counter hand shake. If those parts are damaged, the image can jitter or you may hear buzzing. Apple has warned that strong vibrations — for example from mounting a phone on a high-powered motorcycle — can degrade the stabilisation and autofocus systems. A damaged stabiliser means replacing that camera module.

Will a replaced camera show as "Unknown Part"?

On the iPhone 13 Pro, yes, if the replacement isn't a genuine Apple part installed through Apple's process. It shows under Settings > General > About. We tell you the part grade before starting.

Only the zoom lens is blurry on my iPhone 13 Pro — why?

Each rear camera on the iPhone 13 Pro is a separate module. The Telephoto (3x) can fail or have a cracked cover on its own while the main camera stays fine. Test by switching between the zoom levels in the Camera app and note which ones are affected.

Portrait mode or AR measuring doesn't work properly — is that the camera?

It may be the LiDAR Scanner rather than the cameras. On the iPhone 13 Pro, LiDAR helps with depth, low-light focus and AR. We test it separately so you only pay for what's actually faulty.

How much does iPhone 13 Pro camera service cost?

It depends on which camera, or just the lens cover, needs work and the part grade. You'll get the price and warranty period after inspection, before any work starts.
