iPhone 11 Pro Screen Replacement

Apple iPhone 11 Pro

Quick answer

A cracked or faulty iPhone 11 Pro display is normally fixed by replacing the complete 5.8-inch OLED display assembly. Face ID keeps working if its parts weren't damaged in the drop, and a non-genuine display shows as "Unknown Part" in Settings > General > About.

The iPhone 11 Pro has a 5.8-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. When it cracks, stops responding to touch or shows lines, the usual fix is a complete display assembly replacement — but not every dark or glitchy screen is a broken screen, so we test first.

This page covers what to look for on an iPhone 11 Pro specifically, what can and can't be fixed by a new screen, and what to check before you book a doorstep visit or bring the phone to our studio in Nampally.

Advice that applies to every iPhone — data safety, what to check before booking and common causes — is in our iPhone screen replacement guide; this page focuses on what's specific to the iPhone 11 Pro.

How do I know my iPhone 11 Pro screen needs replacing?

  • A crack across the notch area, sometimes with Face ID failing after the same drop

What makes the iPhone 11 Pro different for this service?

  • Display: 5.8-inch Super Retina XDR (OLED), with a notch for the TrueDepth camera.
  • Refresh rate: this model's original display runs at a standard 60 Hz, so ProMotion isn't a factor in choosing a part.
  • Parts history: the iPhone 11 Pro lists the display in Settings > General > About. Apple says a non-genuine display shows as "Unknown Part" there; it doesn't stop the phone working, but Apple notes it can affect trade-in value.
  • Unlike the LCD iPhone 11, the 11 Pro uses an OLED (Super Retina XDR) panel. OLED damage often shows as black spreading patches or green lines rather than the backlight bleed you'd see on the LCD iPhone 11.

How does screen replacement differ across the iPhone 11 series (2019)?

The iPhone 11 series was the first where iOS flags a display that it can't verify as genuine. On the 11 the panel is an LCD; on the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max it's OLED, so the same drop can produce quite different symptoms across the three phones.

What should I check on my iPhone 11 Pro before booking?

  • The iPhone 11 Pro went on sale in September 2019, so unless it was bought much later or has extended cover, it's likely outside Apple's one-year limited warranty. You can confirm at checkcoverage.apple.com.

What do we test on your iPhone 11 Pro before handing it back?

These checks are chosen for the iPhone 11 Pro's hardware, so features this model has are confirmed working after screen replacement:

  • Face ID set-up and unlock
  • Qi wireless charging
  • Ring/Silent switch
  • Parts and Service History entry for the display

What should I expect after the iPhone 11 Pro service?

We test touch across the whole screen, brightness, True Tone, the proximity sensor (screen should switch off when held to your ear on a call) and Face ID before handing the phone back. If a non-genuine part was used, Settings > General > About will show "Unknown Part" for the display — that's expected.

How does the iPhone 11 Pro compare for screen replacement?

iPhone 11 Pro Max6.5-inch OLED · 60 Hz · notch

IPhone 11 Pro screen replacement: frequently asked questions

Will Face ID still work after a iPhone 11 Pro screen replacement?

It should, provided the Face ID parts weren't damaged in the original accident. The TrueDepth parts that power Face ID sit at the top of the phone and are paired to the logic board; a careful screen replacement works around them rather than replacing them. We check Face ID before we start, so you know beforehand if the drop already affected it — a new screen can't bring back Face ID if those parts are damaged.

Will my iPhone 11 Pro show an "Unknown Part" message after the new screen?

If the replacement isn't a genuine Apple display installed through Apple's process, yes — Settings > General > About will list the display as "Unknown Part". Apple states this doesn't affect your ability to use the phone. We'll tell you which part grade we're quoting so there are no surprises.

My iPhone 11 Pro screen is cracked but works — can I wait?

You can, but cracks in front glass usually spread, sharp edges can cut, and on an OLED panel like the iPhone 11 Pro's a crack can let pressure reach the panel and start black ink-like spots. If the image is perfect and touch works everywhere, a screen protector over the crack buys time; once you see lines or spots, the panel is damaged too.

Does a screen replacement affect True Tone on the iPhone 11 Pro?

It can. Apple's own guidance is that with a non-genuine display, True Tone might not work correctly and colours may look too warm or too cool. After fitting, check Settings > Display & Brightness for the True Tone switch and compare a white page with your old screen if you remember it.

Does the iPhone 11 Pro use the same screen as other iPhone 11 models?

No. The iPhone 11 Pro's 5.8-inch display isn't shared with the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max, so it needs its own part.

How much does iPhone 11 Pro screen replacement cost?

We don't publish a fixed price for the iPhone 11 Pro because it depends on the part grade you choose and current availability. You get a firm quote after we inspect the phone and before any work starts, and you pay only after the service.

Is the iPhone 11 Pro still water resistant after the screen is replaced?

Apple rates the iPhone 11 Pro IP68 (up to 4 metres for 30 minutes) when new. Once a phone has been opened, nobody can honestly guarantee that rating again, even with fresh adhesive. Treat the phone as no longer water resistant and keep it away from water.
